2019 Wardrobe Post

Onwards to the present

This took a while to set this post up, as you will notice the volume of main pieces have exponentially increased. I had learned to let go of items that did not fit me well or items that I were not as attached to. Even in this post, I have sold some dresses that were included for this year

and I am also expecting a dream dress to add into this collection.

It is normal to adjust your wardrobe according to the weather, wardrobe size, lifestyle/style changes or even your personal preference.

This current post features dresses and coordinates I've made for the most of 2019.

In the post afterwards, that will feature the new dresses that I acquired in late 2019/early 2020.

Depending on effort, I might make an additional post on blouses, accessories and shoes.

I tried to ensure that the current photos are as true to colour/natural and unfiltered as possible.

It will definitely be a contrast to the last wardrobe post. I also arranged the posts by colour.

The dress has an elegant ghostly vibe created by the drape of the chiffon side bustles.

I am also a fan of the contrasting satin brocade fabric with a subtle pattern overlay which isn't glaring or too busy.

I already decided that this would be my wedding dress if I ever get married. The dress is made of high quality chiffon with shell embroidery embedded into the fabric.

The photos don't do the dress justice because the pearlescent threads are hard to capture with standard lighting.

I waited impatiently for the rerelease of this print after missing out on the initial release.

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of detail that is put in this dress. The print manages to look refined despite having a somewhat playful print with the goldfish, temari ball and ribbons.

I plan to find a matching red haori/happi coat in the future.

This was another wa lolita main piece that I love. It is made of the same material as Daydreaming Goldfish. The colour scheme of the cards is more muted than the goldfish but the incorporation of the pink gives the print a more "spring" aura.

I liked putting the accessories together to make this coordinate suitable for Valentine's Day.

I particularly find the heart detail on the lace very sweet.

I had admired this print for a while. When I had bought the Pullip doll first before getting the main dress, I wanted to get the set to twin with it. It took me almost 2 years to find it at a reasonable price in the secondhand market. After taking this photo collage, I acquired both the red and black AP Star Night Theater mini hats. I am still on the lookout for the Angelic Pretty Toy Circus OTKS.

I liked the old-school feel to this dress and the fabric is quite heavy and suitable for winter. I have worn this coord a few times and it is complete with an Usakumya and chunky platforms!

This was an experimental country classic coordinate but it seems too OTT with all the accessories.

I had originally bought the dress to wear to a floral themed meet- but now I wear it for more

casual occasions.

This is one of my favourite coordinates because it has a soft, dreamy and fluffy vibe.

I am a fan of Imai Kira's illustrations and this print is no exception.

I would try sleeping in this dress if I could. The eyemask pin is also a perfect accessory.

I love how this dress is a more muted pink than the usual bright pink that AP usually releases.

I am also a fan of the bunnies in the print especially the one with the eyemask.

A very lazy and quick coordinate, perfect for a nice summer day.

The jsk has a more mature and classic vibe but is able to hold a decent amount of poof from a cupcake petticoat. I plan to wear this outfit to the museum or aquarium one day. I got the coat

from ToAlice's branch store in Guangzhou.

I acquired this dress from a swap meet- I was surprised the previous owner was selling it

and was in very good condition. It is very elegant and romantic, and the bustier style is very

flattering for most people.

I had a lot of fun looking for the accesories for this coord. The concept for this coordinate is sweet dessert witch- for Halloween. This set was on the secondhand market for a really good price.

If there was a chocolate tasting festival, I wouldn't mind wearing this out either.

I have yet to find a chocolate themed bag to match with this.

Angelic Pretty Gingham OP & Btssb headdress

A simple coordinate for summer that isn't smothered in layers. The cotton fabric is soft and breathable and like most older AP dresses, it has the built-in petticoat.

I was surprised by the well-kept condition of this dress. It retained a lot of the glitter in the print and the colours were bright and vibrant.

I'm biased to the mint and pink combo. This print is very sweet with the retro diner/ milkbar illustrations. The cake looks delicious!

I fell in love with the watercolour print and gradient colours. In the stock images, the dress had a matte appearance. When I received the dress, I was surprised that the main dress fabric would have glitter in it -it is hard to capture it on camera but it gives the print an even more mysterious vibe. One downside is that the front bow is very floppy and difficult to iron out.

Another old era sweet dress from Angelic Pretty. The condition of the dress is not as pristine as the Fruits Parlor jsk, with the faded print and minimal glitter retained in the fabric. I gave this dress to a friend after I decided it didn't fit me well.

A nitpick I had with the print of this dress of how dark the stars appeared, in contrast with the rest of the illustrations but seeing it in real life changed my mind. I like the details of the pillows and pom pom on the sandals and the dreamcatcher. Kira Imai never ceases to amaze me with her collaborations!

The glitter on the bubbles catches the eye. I sold the sax OP to my friend!

The gingham frill and check print is very adorable and is reminscent of summer. I am a huge fan of lemon and parfait prints- it's becoming a recurring theme. This was a fun coord to put together.

I was very happy when this print came out because AP finally made a sweet medical themed print-

this was the peak of the "menhera/yamikawaii" fashion craze. The blouse was a dream item for me- it was released at the same time as Dreamy Parfait but I missed the sale. I like how the ribbons on the collar and sleeve look like bandages I didn't include the newly acquired Menhera-chan badges I got.

I am a huge fan of the amount of detail this dress has (from the print to the features) and the fact that this dress is also made from cotton and has the built-in petti makes it another favourite in my wardrobe. The use of organza for the sleeves and upper bust area and the scallop neckline makes it an unique cut for the full-back shirred ops. I used to have the lavender op as well but I didn't like the gradient on the lavender. The sewn in pearls make the dress pop even more!

It is reminiscent of the older era OTT sweet AP dresses but one thing that is missing is the glitter.

I remember seeing this print in the Btssb online store but the reservation had already closed. I flagged this dress as a dream item and waited for it to appear in the secondhand market- it took more than a year for this cut and colourway to appear- the yellow and red one appeared more often. The print has a kind of retro vibe to it with the polka-dot and stripes mix and the desaturated palette. Even though I can't really eat parfaits, I love the print and the cherries and strawberries look very tasty and juicy. Another detail I like are the konpeito star candy.

A summery and elegant dress that I picked this up from a friend during the local comm swap meet.

I like the texture of the fabric for this dress.

Crazy cat lady princess edition

I loved the illustration of the kittens- they look so lively and playful. I found the print colours to be more saturated than the stock photos- not flattering. I thought I would like this dress more but I was distracted by the ill-fitting bodice. If you have a large bust or ribcage, this dress is not for you. T

here is not much stretch with the shirring. I had to let this dress go to another home.

Hydrangeas are one of my favourite flowers and when I saw the print preview, I knew I had to own it! The funny thing was that I asked a SS to help me get the dress but my preferred colorway was sold out and she got my second colourway which was white. I checked online and found the lavender one still in stock so I bought it right away and sold the white JSK. The print was more vibrant on the white jsk and I liked how the colours of the flowers were more subdued.

I had been eyeing Misty Sky for a long time but I always backed out from buying because I didn't like the standard colourways (esp the sax looking flat like a bedsheet) and really liked the teaparty gradient version. Until the gradient Brilliant Color was announced. I would also call this a Cinnamoroll inspired coordinate.

Another mermaid princess dress that I love very much. The lavender is a very unique shade- with the main fabric being cool toned and the ribbons in a more pastel warm shade.

I like how its a bit mismatched so I end up using the warm lavender as accents.

The seashell lace is my favourite detail for this dress!

Angelic Pretty Dream Marine JSK and Jellyultra seashell necklace

I waited for Dream Marine to be re-released after missing out on the other reservation and selling my blue OP. I found the OP more flattering but I wish that the chest bow could be detachable.

I also found it interesting that the waist ties were made of organza compared to the chest ribbon.

I was surprised that they also made a brilliant color version for Dream Marine but I didn't like the colour combinations for it.

Every lolita has a holy grail or dream dress that made them want to wear it or get into the fashion. This was my holy grail dress. I was just getting into lolita and fell in love with the print- the cut of the dress and how there was gold details and the print with the pegasi. I hunted for the set online and caved in even though it was at a scalped price. I don't think I would ever sell this.

I bought some gold trim and fake crystals to line the edge of the overskirt (that's dedication for me because usually I'm too lazy to modify anything and I'm not good at sewing).

When I wore this dress, I actually felt like a princess, thanks to the cage skirt giving enormous poof!

Metamorphose x Roselia collaboration set (including bonnet, JSK, tights and wristcuffs) and Lumiebre x Roselia parasol

A dream collaboration turned real! I had no idea there would be a collaboration with

Bang Dream! and Meta picked Roselia out of the other bands! (most likely due to their gothic lolita inspired band outfits).

Roselia actually modelled and performed in the set during their second live Zeit.

My favourite part was when they performed Determination Symphony and twirled the parasol around. They also wore the set again for their sixth live Hitze on the second day (Wasser ).

It was during summer and it was very warm so they refrained from wearing the tights and Aina Aiba tied her hair up and ditched the bonnet and veil, as pictured below.

The in-game event and gacha costume set (Rainy Blue Rose) was released during (Umbrella for the Autumn Rain in 11th October 2017) and Meta announced the collaboration on 8th October 2017 and there was one month to reserve it. They also made another reservation in early 2018.

I spent a lot of money getting the 4 star Yukina card in the game so of course I had to get the irl set, including the parasol. My friend still jokes about the 10k yen parasol.

I surprisingly didn't get the 3 star gacha card until way later.

I plan to wear this to Charaexpo when I meet Roselia!

This is my most favourite dress out of my entire wardrobe- you bet this is the first dress I will grab out if there was a fire in my house.

This was a fun coord to make- I love the Alice in Wonderland theme. I used to also own AP Wonder Gallery but I prefered this print better. Look at the gold glitter and details on the cards!

The vest bodice also makes it unique and gives it a "casino dealer" look.

The bunny hat was the most hardest to find- I waited for the re-release after three years of owning this dress and disappointed when I saw people trying to scalp it.

Angelic Pretty Castle Mirage OP, Peppermint Fox jewel brooch and Antaina silver heels

I was not a fan of the material they used for this dress- it was very thin and delicate and prone to fraying. I got this dress secondhand from a friend who was leaving the fashion. I wore it a few times but sold it because it was sitting in my wardrobe. The print looks beautiful in photos.

Putumayo x Tales of Zestiria Lailah collaboration outfit

Not really considered lolita but I wanted to add this in since it's still jfashion. The back bustle is really cool and I like the drape of the inner layer. The cut of this outfit is very close to the original, minus the extra lace frills and definitely more wearable.

The photos do not do the dress any justice. The navy makes the print pop out and you can see all the cute details of the print, from the balloons to the "Alice" girl and the carousel. I like how the JSK also has a detachable sailor collar and netting. I'm still figuring out different coordinates with Magical Etoile- it allows me to be more creative and fun.

My go to dress for lazy days when I am sick of wearing normie basic clothes. The JSK has a simple and flattering cut with the sweetheart bust, gathered waist and thin shoulder straps. There is plenty of shirring. I also like the constellation print and navy was the best colourway for this dress.

This was another dream dress of mine- I fell in love with it from the stock photos and I liked how other lolitas coordinated with it. I ordered this from the online store when it was its second reservation. I like the theme of "nurse lolita", it makes me think of a more fancier version of what Florence Nightingale would wear. The amount of lace and ribbons used surprised me.

At first I was thinking of getting the sax/mint but decided on the navy instead since it was easier to coord with.

This dress is one of the dresses I've had from a long time (I got it in 2015 when it was first released and direct from the IW online store). I fell in love with the timeless design .I really like how comfortable it is and its really one of those lazy and effortless dresses where you can just slip on and it looks elegant!

I never thought I would get this dress since every sweet lolita and their mum has this print and there are a tonne of re-releases with Holy Lantern but I got it. I liked the zipper jsk, its flattering for the bust and the flocking gives the dress a nice texture. The navy is a very strange shade of blue and purple which is hard to capture on photos. I'll treat this dress carefully .

I had my eye on the white x brown colourway of this set (because it also had the mint blue) but I ended up picking the black because of the contrast. I also enjoy the black and purple colour combination. The print is very cute, I love the icing decorations and themed cookies with the gold glitter star details.

Metamorphose Maiden's Prayer Dress set

I liked all the accessories that were included in this set, like the wrist cuffs, veil and detachable collar and the embroidered crosses but I was not a fan of the material that was used for this. It was made from a heavy type of polyester that was not breathable in a hot and humid climate. I kept this in storage until I sold it.

For some reason, when I see this print it makes me think of the Lana Del Rey song Off to the Races.

The dress is made of cotton with the sleeves in chiffon and the star and dot print have gold glitter .

It makes me miss the old AP dresses and that era of OTT sweet with the decadent prints and poofy full volume slightly above knee dresses.

Angelic Pretty Dream Witch Set

I bought this set initially for Halloween but found out how versatile it was because of its simple design and the material was suitable for most weather. I'm a huge fan of the shawl cape and the gloves. I modified the canotier by removing the glaring white beads that formed a cross to tone it down.

Alice and the Pirates Sweet Devil Set

I had hunted for this set for close to two years, had missed out on its reservation and instead waited for it to appear in the secondhand market. I have yet to coord this that brings justice to this set e.g. finding a fancy gothic hime blouse and some accessories.

Fanplusfriend Neo Ludwig Goddess Bastet JSK with matching blouse and AatP mini hat

I'm saving this dress for the Tutankhamun exhibition in 2021- its a long wait but it will be the last tour for the artefacts to be seen outside of Egypt. I've always been interested in ancient history and Egyptian mythology. The print features Bastet, the goddess of the home/domestic life, cats , fertility and women's secrets- and is a protector of the home from diseases and evil spirits. The dress is not completely black, but instead has a dark green tinge which makes it unique.

To finish off this post, I made an experimental ?gothic taisho-inspired coord out of some casual pieces I had. The skirt I usually wear with band or jfash t-shirts and is comfortable to move around in.

Due to lack of motivation, a busy work schedule and some unforeseen family circumstances, I had to delay finishing this until now. But it has made me more determined than ever to work on the 2020 one! (I won't arrange coordinates this time around).
